イギリスのロックバンド

ご存知の方も多く今更と言われるかもしれませんがマニック・ストリート・プリーチャーズというイギリスのバンドは素晴らしい。単なるパンク系ロックバンドかと思いきや、思いっきりリリックな歌詞とメローな曲も演れる、万能型。またボーカルの独特の節回しと心地よく、ロックといえどもしっとりと聴ける。

そんなＭＡＮＩＣＳ（バンドの愛称）の曲で最初に気に入ったのが「ＯＣＥＡＮ ＳＰＲＡＹ」。ＴＵＴＡＹＡの視聴コーナーのヘッドフォンを通して耳に入ってきた語りかけるような最初のフレーズにびっくり。「目、とても美しいです。とても美しい目をしています」。日本語だったんです。その後に続く、シンプルなメロディーライン。「こいつら只者ではない」。一気にファンになった次第です。

さて、1990年代にデビューした彼らですが、昨年も来日し今でも底力を見せ付けてくれています。最後にもうひとつ大好きな曲がありますのでご紹介しておきます。

ゴールデンウィーク

今年って何日からゴールデンウィークと呼べばいいの？何だか中途半端な暦ですよね。このような飛び石でまとまった休みを取りにくい中、海外旅行に行ける人が羨ましいです。私的には3日からということになるのですが、後半の2日間は仕事に奪われそうです。

さて、旅行といえばこのゴールデンウィークも毎年のこと“安・近・短”になりそうです。地下鉄の一日乗車券を片手に都内巡り、そしてもう一日は鎌倉辺りを散策しようかと思っています。本当に小旅行？ですが楽しみです。23区内であってもまだ訪れていない名所や史跡、見どころがたくさん残っています。それと気になる旨そうなラーメン屋もまだまだありますので、ここ何年かはゴールデンウィークは“安・近・短”で行きたいと思います。
